Torrington High School and The Gilbert School in Winsted scored the lowest among Litchfield County secondary schools in state assessments, and were as many as 20 points behind the region’s top scorers, according to state data released Monday.

Thomaston and Housatonic high schools scores were in the middle of the region’s high schools. Region 7’s Northwestern Regional High School scored highest, with 90.7, and lowest was Torrington with 67.7. The Gilbert School, with a 68.2, was the only high school in Litchfield County to lose ground in scoring all three years.

The scoring is based on testing in math, science, reading and writing, and the scores are the first to be calculated using a new statewide system that grades schools on a 100-point scale.
