FALLS VILLAGE — While the predicted numbers of Region 1 schools’ enrollment are not encouraging, they are also not surprising. The figures have been going down for several years and projections show that trend will continue.
Superintendent Patricia Chamberlain reported at last week’s meeting of the Region 1 Board of Education that the numbers from the New England School Development Council, which are the ones that have been used over the years, show Housatonic Valley Regional High School will shrink from the current 404 students to 377, or perhaps even lower. She said the region has found the NESDEC numbers to be very accurate.
