  1. Our son is one of those that has been failing several classes. His explanation is that he only needs a few credits to graduate. He has had 3 F’s in the same classes for each marking period except this last one. I do not agree with the credit system. It is antiquated and needs to be revamped. He has wasted valuable teachers and students time by not participating in all of his classes and doing his homework..

  2. The biggest problem is not the number of credits required, but rather the perception that it’s okay to fail a class.
    Upping graduation requirements will help some to not fail, but will cause others who maybe had a bad year early in high school to give up sooner, because graduation will be that much more difficult for them.
    In the case of upping graduation requirements, it doesn’t help that there are few summer school options.
