Region 1’s Search for a new Assistant Superintendent of Schools is underway. You can join the search consultant, Dr. Mary Broderick, on December 7, 2016 at HVRHS, Room 133, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. or December 13, 2016 at Kent Center School, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to share your thoughts about the skills, experiences, philosophies, and characteristics desired in our new leader. You are also eligble to participate in a survey to help clarify the qualities and characteristics desired in the next Assistant Superintendent. The survey will be open until December 15th.

Region 1 board anxious for the public to understand what they do

 FALLS VILLAGE – Region 1 board member John Sanders pushed his colleagues to set up a communications plan to better interact with the public.

The Cornwall representative asked that the topic be placed on the agenda of Monday’s meeting as a result of discussions during the board’s participation in the Lighthouse Project, a joint effort between the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education and the state Department of Education to see how boards can affect student achievement.

Region 1 Superintendent Patricia Chamberlain has reported the  Educational Cost Sharing grants for the 2016-17 fiscal year during her report to the Lee H. Kellogg Board of Education 

 Canaan: $2,064,277 (last year, $2,091,525)

 Cornwall: $23,499 ($85,129)

 Falls Village: $186,637 ($209,153)

 Kent: $51,265 ($167,052)

 Salisbury: $60,176 ($148,652)

 Sharon: $42,103 ($139,261).
