KENT — The first selectman is urging the Kent Board of Education to investigate a suspected case of a non-resident attending Kent Center School and failing to pay tuition for four years. First Selectman Bruce K. Adams brought the issue to the board’s attention Thursday after working on it for several weeks.
He (First Selectman Bruce Adams) said he contacted Superintendent Patricia Chamberlain in mid-August. “She was here on the first day of school and it was handled very professionally,” Adams said. he said the child continues to attend Kent Center and he’s concerned that it hasn’t been really dealt with.

Our response to Superintendent Chamberlain. Have a discussion? Have a discussion? The problem of residency in Region One Schools is over TWO YEARS OLD. Where has the Superintendents leadership been with the local board? Where? We can tell you where…NOWHERE. Local boards get plenty of push when it comes to administrative contracts, as a matter of fact, lawyers are hired every year by the administration to change three-year contracts into yearly contracts. This is an issue the administration has failed to handle with the local board for over two years now. It has cost the Kent taxpayers thousands of needless dollars…Where has the Region One Representative from Kent been in this issue? Has he been out there reminding the administration of the continuing problem for two years? The town of Kent pointed out this problem over two years ago..this is another miserable example of the failed leadership and communication abilities of The Region One administration, the superintendent, and Kent’s representative on the Region One Board Jonathan Moore. A total lack of leadership and communication.
