Two More States Eye Repeal of Common Core Reply
I am not saying that I agree, but this election, is obviously about more than ISIS, The Russians, etc….http://dailysignal.com/2014/11/12/two-states-eye-repeal-common-core/?utm_source=heritagefoundation&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=morningbell&mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRokvqnNZKXonjHpfsX66usvXKO1lMI%2F0ER3fOvrPUfGjI4CSsdrI%2BSLDwEYGJlv6SgFQrLBMa1ozrgOWxU%3D

Declining enrollment focus of Region 6 event
BY JOHN MCKENNA
REPUBLICAN-AMERICAN
GOSHEN — Residents and town officials in Region 6 had their first chance Monday to comment on the district Board of Education’s long-term planning effort to address a declining student population.
A crowd of about 50 turned out at Goshen Center School for the first of three public informational meetings on an issue that first surfaced with a demographic study showing a steep drop in student population between 2013 and 2023.
School board Chairman Christopher Sanders of Goshen and Superintendent of Schools Edward Drapp spoke for more than an hour on the plummeting enrollment and potential ways of addressing it. Then the floor was opened to comments.

Region One Board Of Education Meeting November 3
Just an observation. No public comment was to be allowed EXCEPT for agenda items..and it appeared that the board tried to stifle Julie Lang from reading her letter as well….I hope this is not a return back to the previous board.
Second observation…no minutes for the special meeting on October 30 were available. Guess who took those meeting minutes? Yes, you are
correct…Superintendent Patricia Chamberlain! Surprise.

Region 1 board agrees to give school official an early out
BY RUTH EPSTEIN Republican-American
FALLS VILLAGE — Today is Region 1 Assistant Superintendent Diane Goncalves’ last day on the job.
The Board of Education agreed to an early retirement and separation agreement following an hourlong executive session Thursday that was attended by members of the All Board Chairmen Committee and Superintendent Patricia Chamberlain.
Reading from a written statement after the vote, board Chairman Andrea L. Downs said, “Unfortunately, over the past few years, events have often competed for the attention of board members and educators that provided a distraction from our primary purpose of ensuring a quality educational experience for all of our students. It is our hope that we can return to this essential work on behalf of our children.”
The motion gave no indication of the financial implications of the package nor who would take on Goncalves’ responsibilities. No public comment was permitted. Downs indicated the financial information would become public once an agreement between Goncalves and the board is signed.

All But Done……… 1
According to sources from within the Region 1 School District a “buyout” of the Assistant Superintendent is all but done. We will probably see a special meeting of the Region 1 Board and or ABC as well to wrap this up, and, we would guess, it will probably be publicly voted on at the Region 1 board meeting a week from today (November 3). Also lots of rumblings on other items going on in the Central Office…could be a very interesting time…..
