Here is a Region One Report first!!! The Region One Report Quiz!!!! 7

Who wrote this? (no cheating or Google please!)

The three women now in control of the Region 1 board can be expected to retrench the old positions of the strong Housatonic faculty and their supporters. The new budget will likely show a substantial increase. And Housatonic already has the highest per pupil cost in the northwest corner, in excess of $23,000 per student. The state average is around $15,000. Further, academic expectations will likely be lowered as new technology efforts were defeated last year. Housatonic has the some of the lowest state test scores of all the regional schools in the state.

And why did they not make this  comment about the current administration, and Matt Harnett of Region 1 before now? (bonus points if you can answer this question as well!)

  1. Well, that’s a no brainer! How about John Mauer? And I didn’t cheat or google! I knew about his comments. What’s even worse is that he actually said that the 2014-2015 “budget” would increase because of the women on the Board, while conveniently forgetting to mention that Business Manager Sam Herrick alerted the Board at its Monday meeting that without any changes being made that there would be an increase of between 2.5-3% for any proposal because health insurance costs would likely increase by 20%. That would likely happen because this year the insurance company, so far, was paying out more than it was collecting on claims for our policy. Advise: research anything this man posts!

  2. Second question: No comments of this nature were made previously as is widely known, because Mr. Mauer became, essentially a 7th member of the Board due to his close relationship with the former chair and the superintendent – a connection for inside information that he no longer has!

  3. Before Anonymous revealed who wrote the comment, I was going to say “a bitter and angry old fart misogynist.” But I guess I don’t have to say that now. . .

  4. How was the the number of incoming freshmen arrived at? They asked how many kids were APPLYING to private schools and then assumed they would all get in and the parents would all find that funding tuition would be no problem. Didn’t work last year, won’t work this year.

  5. In other words, it is unreasonable to assume that every 8th grader in the district will be attending Housatonic, but entirely reasonable to presume that every 8th grader who applied to private school will attend. Total hogwash.

As for the quiz, I was going to guess “the most inept former chairman of the Region One BOE.” Where do I collect my prize?
