The regiononeraport URGES voters in Region One to vote NO on the budget as put forth by the Region One Board Of Education.

NOjustsayno…Vote no because after more than 130 people showed up at the public hearing, after over 200 students signed a petition and OVERWHELMINGLY said no to the budget, the response from Chair Phil Hart was that other people have said otherwise…well Mr. Hart, where is your proof? Where are the letters, the emails, etc. Only a handful (maybe 4 or 5 people at the meeting were in support of the budget as presented. Sorry Mr. Hart, we don’t believe you).

NO…Vote no because once again, after three years of promises..the Region One Administrative contracts are being ripped up and started anew once again.

NO…Vote no because board members Hart of Cornwall, Moore of Kent, and Freund of North Canaan are so insulated from the public, they DON’T GIVE A DAM about what the public says…and obviously, now they DON’T GIVE A DAM what over 200 students have to say. All this talk at the beginning of the year about their concern for students..a ruse, a bad joke, A LIE.

NO…Vote no because the math of laying off almost 5 teaching positions and adding almost 4 administrative positions just does not add up.

The Region One budget is not just flawed, it is bad. Now is the time, now is the vote. Let’s start to take back control over a board that has been out of control for way to long. This is the time for residents, all residents in Region One to start the process of taking back ownership of our Region from three insular board members. That start begins with a NO VOTE on this budget, and ANY budget that lays off teachers, adds administrators, and rewrites administration contracts. We need teachers, not more administrators, we need real academic results, we need a board that knows it has a responsibility to not just the administration, but to the students, and to the taxpayers of Region One.

NO-NO-NO-NO

  1. It is time for the people to say no. Why are teachers being layed off teachers when the admin staff get raiser. In our economy we need to set aside raisers until things get better. I pads are not needed by every student . In the ideal world and if we had excess money then maybe we can buy kindles. Please vote the budget down and tell local school boards why you are voting it down.
